Seattle Christmas Boat Parade

November 29, 2010 in Montlake, Museums, Seattle for Kids, Seattle This Month

Tonight was a wonderful treat as we went to the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) right down by Lake Washington to  check out the historical exhibits, listen to the Seattle Girlchoir carol, be treated to cookies and hot chocolate, see Santa, and then at 5:30 go outside for the treat of being present at the start of the traditional Seattle Christmas Boat Parade, a very serene and almost breathless experience.  This will be the 61st year of the parade.  Luckily it didn’t seem too cold as we lined the walkway of the Arboretum Waterfront Trail and proceeded to be enchanted by the Skagit Choral performing for 20 minutes before the boats began their stately pass and parade which would eventually lead them on a loop to Lake Union.  It’s a bit late now so I’ll share a couple photos and update this blog more tomorrow…what a great beginning to the Christmas season!
